Thread OP

I love this iris it is one of the only ones that bloomed this year. Our winter was very hard on a lot of my plants this year. I lost a few.

Most of us have suffered losses in blooms and rhizomes this year/winter. It was a bad winter, followed by a bad spring.

The only black I have is 'Hello Darkness'. It's got beautiful flowers, but is a weak grower for me. Nice to see one that is a survivor of harsher conditions than we have.
Love 'Black Lightning'!

Hello Pugsmom. I quested after a black iris for about five years buying ones that were described as black. All that I bought turned out to be shades of purple, reds or blues. I liked some of them and gave the rest away. I got in a miff about misnaming the color of irises and would not buy any more described as black. It is like my quest for a true blue...... most are shades of purple. The picture you posted looks really black. Does it have a name?.......here I go again....
Thro' all the tumult and the strife I hear the music ringing; It finds an echo in my soul— How can I keep from singing?
