Welcome! Mala Bajaj. Smiling

It will be difficult to identify the tree without seeing flowers. I have looked for trees in Mumbai and come across come possibilities. Lagerstroemia indica is one of them.

The leaf shape seems to be variable.

It is not a very familiar tree of India.. From what I have seen. I am guessing it has been imported from south east Asia since it was in a very well landscaped property.

Can you give us an idea of the flower size? I'm wondering if it might be a Pink Trumpet Tree, Tabebuia species. Click these links for photo comparison's:

It could be Tabebuia rosea. The leaf looks similar to it. I don't have it, but have it in our workplace campus and is planted in many roadsides, here and there. It usually blooms in December here at a time when the plant has shed all its leaves. After flowering the new leaves appear. This pic was taken in 2006 December. I guess from the description and photos malabajaj has sent, this is the one. Yes. without flowers it would be hard to pin-point.
