The first of my dahlias started to bloom about a week and a half ago.

First to bloom was Narnia


Followed by Arabian Night, Karma Choc (not shown), and Ginger Willo


We got our hottest day today (102 to be exact). Everything seems to be weathering the heat OK.

So nice to see them!

I was in Los Angeles last week, seeing my latest grandson for the first time, but my husband said that it got up to over 100 degrees here in Anderson Valley, soilsandup. It's cooled off since though.

Dahlias are finally starting to bloom in SE Michigan.

One of the first was Country Sweetheart from a breeder here in Michigan, Don Wardon.

Does anyone know why the last dahlia I posted has only part of the blooms with the dappling? Each bloom on it is like that. It is supposed to look more like the first one.

I don't know if it's classified as "unstable genetics" but that's what happens with many dahlias.

Well, at least it is still pretty, either way

It certainly is and it's very interesting to see each flower and how it differs from the others.
