Very nice Steve ... I can almost smell the wonderful scent of that Murraya paniculata! Very nice Clivia too ... I've never been able to keep one of them alive. Please tell me how you get your Stephanotis to bloom! I've had a huge plant for about eight or so years and it's never bloomed!!

Thanks Lynn, I think the main thing for the Stephanotis was a rest period in the winter. Just enough water to keep it going, a cool period might help to if you can provide it...how cold do you often get where you are? Does it come in for the winter?

hmm ... Well, the past two winters were brutal by Florida standards. We had many nights in the low to mid 20's and days where it didn't even make it to 40ºF ... and even ICE! I've been here for 44 years and have never seen anything like it! I lost many plants to the cold this past winter. The only plants I bring inside when it gets real cold are my orchids and a few hoya's. Everything else gets moved to the enclosed porch and also to the covered deck. I throw blankets over them when temp's are predicted to drop.

The Stephanotis stays in full sun year round and gets fed with bloom booster fertilizer when I feed the orchids. I'm stumped as to why it has never bloomed but hopefully some day!

Hmm, maybe try cutting it back? I've read it does really well if you give it a good trim since it flowers on new growth. I was going to say maybe it needed more cold but it sounds like its got enough of that. Or maybe a bit of shade might help? I remember hearing they like some light shade too...mines blooming indoors this far north os maybe it has too much sun?

Steven, I never even thought about the possibility of it needing more shade, and I didn't realize it bloomed on new growth! I was only told it needed full sun to bloom. It's been happy and healthy except for the fact there have been no signs of any buds over the years. Thanks for the advice, I will try moving it to a shadier spot ... and next spring it's getting a good trim!

It looks really healthy so maybe even prune it in the fall or mid winter where you are? I plan on cutting mine down in the fall(as long as its done blooming) and just letting it rest over the winter till it starts new growth in the spring again. The rest period seems to be an important part of the flowering process. Thumbs up

Thanks Steven, I might just have to do that and hope for blooms next year!
