I received cuttings of these plants but I'm not sure if I can have them as my grand babies live with me and I have dogs. Are any of these poisonous?

carnosa 'Krimson Princess' (Pink blossom, pointed leaf)
-globulosa (White-to-yellow blossom)
-kerrii (thick, heart-shaped leaves)

-obovata (lots of smaller pink blossoms with lots of nectar, round speckled leaves)

-publicalyx 'Red Buttons' (dark stems, dark leaf backs, dark red blossoms)
-samoensis IML-0192 (elongated leaves, pretty pale pink blossoms)

Are all of these possibly Hoyas? I'm just guessing here.
My suggestion would be to check with you Vet? And online you could check the ASPCA... http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/...

Hope this helps. And Welcome! to ATP

And I found this also... http://www.babycenter.com/404_...

I could be wrong, but no, I don't believe Hoyas are toxic.

I was checking earlier but had to stop due to lightening. Most of what I was reading said that the Hoyas are not toxic, but
some/maybe all? Hoyas have a sap/latex which can cause irritation, so watch for that because dogs and children are always getting into things.

Hi GardenPrincesses! Welcome! to All Things Plants from me too!

I grow a couple of Hoyas and they do have that white milky sap which can cause contact dermatitis in some humans. I've always had hundreds of houseplants and I've had many pets over the years; cats, dogs and birds. We had a cat once who liked to get into the plants, mostly eating African Violet flowers and we currently have one dog and are trying to train him to not munch on any plants because so many can be toxic to animals. I don't know that the flowers of Hoya would be harmful but I'd be concerned about children or pets eating the stems or leaves with that milky sap. @AlohaHoya may be able to offer advice on the possible toxicity levels of Hoya plants.

Thank you Greene and Plantladylin for the advice. They will be high out of their reach so the only chance of contact is if a leave falls to the ground. Still not sure but feel better after your comments.
