This is 1 of my very Favorite Semps
Awesome Semp " Raspberry Ice" Supposed to get very large up to 9" but mine hasn't gotten over 6-6 1/2" but it is really nice & full. and clumps up very nicely
Beautiful Fuzzy Blue-Green color late Spring thru Summer. Fall starts to turn Mostly Red thru the Winter season. Early Spring starts to turn back Green again. The Knockout color occurs about the last week of May here in Va, when the last of the Red color is a wide stripe down the center of the leave. Late doing that this year and didn't get the full effect of the changeover

Cliff mine are in full sun, and we've had an oddly sunny spring, so I think that's why they were so dark this year!
Hurray!

I really like Raspberry Ice. It's one I marked months ago for purchase next year. Thumbs up

Has anyone ever had one that looked like: https://www.simplysucculents.c...
Just wondering what conditions produced the very light green, almost white color. Sticking tongue out

Nice Chris,
your April pic is pretty close to as red as mine ever gets. sometimes the very center goes all red but there is always the blue-green somewhere.

Love Raspberry Ice. So glad you chose this one Cliff.
I had a terrible time growing this one. My first time all the new offsets I received bloomed, and of course died. The next year they decided to stay around. I love the text, form and color of this wonderful semp.

Great photos from all of you for the semp. Hurray!
I need to get a new photo when my camera comes back home later today.

I can tell you the story of this one.

Mina Colvin loved arachnoideum 'Tomentosum' and wanted to see what variations it might produce from seed. She grew a large number and sent a slide of the group of seedlings in our round robin that eventually became SFAN. I saw two that looked distinctive in the slide and said "pull these two out and grow them on". Those two turned out to be 'Raspberry Ice' and 'Silver Thaw', both great plants although frustrating as parents because they produce few seeds. Both grow great for me although my colony of 'Silver Thaw' looks a bit chimeric, as some of the rosettes are differently colored than the rest. Generally I would blame seedlings, but not in this case.

I have a seedling from 'Raspberry Ice' X self that is like a more intense version with more cobwebbing and better color retention. It might get a name if its performance continues.

By the way I've never seen this semp too large so I don't know how the reports of 9" rosettes have appeared. With 'Tomentosum' as the pod parent you wouldn't expect anything too big.
