I had four big roots of Colocasia in storage over winter (I live in zone 6a). The top center of two of the "bulbs" was mushy when I brought them out of storage, but the rest of the bulb seemed solid. They've been in the ground for a week now and no sign of life. Please...reassure me! *LOL* Will I see my Colocasia this summer?

If the bulbs seemed solid then I'd say there's a decent chance of survival. Give it another week before you start to panic. Smiling

Yeah, I agree with Dave, don't panic yet. Sticking tongue out
I planted one in a pot this year that took over three weeks to show signs of life, but now is almost two feet tall.

Are they up now?

What's gunna happen is this: the central eye died, it won't make, but the tubers covered with smaller eyes!
Each of these will pop out a small plant, if you want BIG plants, you gotta divide the pups, but if you don't you shoukd be blessed with a large clump of smaller plants!

Wow, thanks Swayback, great to know. I scratched around the planted bulbs (nothing is up above soil level yet). On the two bulbs that were solid, I see several green "nubs" so I'm confident those will come up ok. On the partially rotted bulbs, nothing yet, but the remaining bulbs are still solid so I'm still hopeful. Next year, I'm going to be more careful in my over-winter storage AND I'm going to pot them up indoors in February to get them growing faster. Thank You!

Without seeing anything...I'd say water em more...

You might wanna hold off til march, they can wake up fast and grow so fast you may have a jungle inside and snow outside if your not careful!

Unless your house is very warm, potting early might be disappointing. Hope you see signs of life soon!!

If some of the bulbs are still soft and mushy I'd remove them from the damp soil for a few days and let them dry out completely; then repot. I'd think if there's still any soft mushy areas and you are watering, those bulbs will continue to rot.

Nice! Very glad to hear it. I was hoping after my estimate of at least three weeks, they would start showing for you.
Looks like it was exactly three weeks. Sticking tongue out
