A friend of mine has this growing in her garden. I asked Moby if she knew it and she didn't so I'm guessing it's not a real common one. Any ideas? I really like it.

All I can say is I am stumped! I have looked around though. I would like to see a good photo looking straight into the flower.

I've been searching too and just can't find anything like it. I'll see if I can get a better photo from her.

Any history being might also be helpful, such as where it came from. If it came in an unlabeled mix then all bets are off; it could just be a hybridizer's castoff.

My friend moved into a house with a very nice established garden. It had belonged to an older woman. Looks like maybe she was once a very good gardener and then got so she could not keep up with it. Lots of things need divided. Afraid this one may always be a NOID.

Susan it looks like you will have to help your friend divide this particular lily and instead of throwing out the extras, I'm sure you will feel bad and put them in your garden. Sticking tongue out

It's a lovely picture of a lovely lily. I've seen similar flowers, but don't have any names attached to it in my mental database!

I always say 'a good lily is where you find it'. Sometimes a person can make some really nice heirloom discoveries in those old well maintained gardens. That makes this lily kind of unique and worthy of some further propagation. A good lily grower who's been around a long time might be able to identify it quickly. Send a picture to B&D or The Lily Nook and see what they say.

Edit added: OOPS-- Add 'The Lily Garden' (Judith Freeman).

Could that be the result of cross pollination with the yellow planted beside it?
