That looks like a good guess!

Are the stems ribbed?

I see from USDA Plants that Cardiospermum halicacabum, an invasive vine, is naturalized in New Jersey. Not sure it fits though?

More photos of Cardiospermum grandiflorum:

I'm gonna suggest a hardy perennial, maybe Actaea cordifolia?

Both Cardiospermum and Actaea have alternate leaf arrangement. Your "weed" is opposite leaf arrangement.
Don't know what it might be.

Are you sure you haven't got that the wrong way around for Actaea Rick?

Tiarella was mentioned but it doesn't appear to have ridged stems..

it's not the Tiarella.. for sure.. it's pretty low to the ground.. the weed is close to 2 foot.. but might have hitchhiked with one of the other plants

You know it's not poison ivy? In the photo it looks close enough that I'd be cautious.

Clematis virginiana has ribbed stems! It does look like it's shooting off like a climber.

Great photos at that site. There seems to be stipules at the leaf junctions shown on one photo (for Clematis virginiana, that is) - not seeing that on the plant in question. Clematis certainly seems likely.

By the way, the photos of the plant in question show a plant marker that I can't read... nothing to do with this plant, I take it?

I noticed that also but thought it was part of the irrigation system. Is it a plant label?

It's a two-prong anodized aluminum plant marker with a yellow label, and is pulled out of the ground and lying sideways.

I think the plant label says Iris Jumping.

Oh, right, I thought I could make out "Iris", too.
Would stipules only occur at the leaf junctions near the flower heads? I would imagine they'd be at all leaf junctions?
