well most of the Spring flowers are gone. A few magnolia and oleander are hanging around but thats about it. Since I do not do the cottage garden thing my color now is the coleus and roses on the deck. It is much to hot here to do much in the yard gardening. If it cannot make it on its own too bad so sad. I have some shrimp plant blooms that are doing good. Here is the pic of what is happening around here in June.Thumb of 2011-07-01/shirley/074604 Hope everyone is doing fine. Sugarweed where are you. Hi Shirley,
Your deck is looking great and I reckon DGD did the watering well.
I am taking cuttings and rooting them as I ordered 4 more of the great self watering boxes that sit on 4" or 6" rails.
I'm also making plans to go visit Brinda and Allen in August.

That sounds great Sidney give her a big hug from me. Alyssa did a great job. She is now living with us. She loves being at the Comfort Inn for Active Seniors formerly know as Magnolia Way Inn for Inactive Seniors. We have a great time together. The coleus babies are ready to fly. Just waiting for a little more rain before I put them in the proper places I have chosen for them. Thanks keep in touch . Shirleyt

Oh, I'm quite sure they will have a terrific time.
How are your coleus Shirley?
Did they survive?
I am feeding everything some H2O2 water.

Sugarweed the coleus are doing fine. They are looking good while others are getting leggy and Sandy is saying its time to clear out and get ready for fall stuff. But I am still hanging on because I know it is too hot for fall plants now. Just my opinion. lol Here is the last pics of the year. You can see your plants in the first two shots. It was a misty foggy morning shirleyt

I will get a kick in the butt if I buy anymore. The deck is loaded and I learned this season not to put them on the garden paths. Its too hard to water the ones in the garden.
I will probably store the smaller ones12 inches or less.

Ge They look so great in the yard gardens but need, so much watering here, that I did not plant but a couple, off the deck this year. I just cannot take the heat. Yours look great. Sandy my daughter wants to hook me up with a watering system next year for the deck. I think it is too expensive to do that. I have the hoses to install in the yard but just did not get around to installing them. I am no good with over wintering and start over every year. I have tried and failed every year. shirleyt

I cannot believe it but the deck is still lush and for the most part looking good still. I have removed some large leggy ones and put in smaller ones which I had in pots. Sandy wanted me to pull them out weeks ago. Since we can not put in the fall stuff until probably mid Nov, I decided to just work with what was there instead of preparing and leaving empty pots until then. I hate that. I must admit that now it is time to start the clearing out process. sadness. The three tier planter is looking sad. We will wake up soon and it will be cold here. Oh the large leggy ones.....I pulled them out and put them in the yard beds just to see it they would still live. It started raining often and they are hanging in and starting to put out more leaves. I am just going to watch them for experimental purposes. Every one have a good day. shirleyt

Shirley, if you think you're going to wake up and find it cold soon, just imagine what we find up here!

I know my coleus are circling the drain now, and I refuse to spend time pinching any more. Some nights have been as cold as the upper 40s, and some plants are dropping a lot of leaves. But all together, planted in the bed in front of my front porch, they still look gorgeous. Passers by still stop and compliment that bed.

I've only torn apart/ cut back/ yanked annuals on the sides of my house, very small narrow areas. But I've already filled my compost bins. Lots of territory get to finish before fall. I really need that compost to shrink fast. The day before yesterday it was 126° so it's cooking albeit slowly. I need more bins!
