Hi! Is anyone else having one of the wettest springs on record? The plants are doing ok, but I am having issues with fungus. It's a hard balance with mulch, and keeping the garden free if debris so bugs and the like don't congregate for a five star buffet. I need to spray soap shield and pyola soon.

Thoughts?

We have had good rains ,but are drier now so no fungi that I can see.

Hi Reid! The first pic looks like a slime mold - mostly harmless, just wandering around on top of the mulch looking for a place to fruit - but if you have fungus growing on your plants, that's not good! It might be time to consider removing your mulch, exposing the soil surface to the air, and thinning-out your plants to allow good air circulation.

Thanks June. I have started doing that already after I found the stuff. We are supposed to dry out this week thankfully.

Fungi that thrive on dead materials (like mulch) tend not to infect live material, and vice-versa. Often they can survive on either, but only thrive on one. Yes, that looks like a slime mold - nothing to worry about. It often creeps up live stems, but rarely does any harm.

My neighbor here in St. Boni had more than 6 inches in his rain gauge from those storms a few days ago.
