Alfalfa pellets may be GMO but it doesn't mean that they've been sprayed with Roundup. Rather, some of the genes have been altered to make them resistant to Roundup. And that's a totally different thing.

Wouldn't it be nice if they could make our perennials Round up ready? No more back breaking weeding, but then I probably couldn't afford to buy them!

That was the whole purpose of making it roundup resistant. It is so they can spray roundup right on the crops and kill the weeds to produce a pure product.
I also read that the main ingredient in roundup causes miscarriages in farm animals. They are the ones who get most of the GMO's. I think it is a shame.

My daylilies are were acting funny since I started adding it so I will not use any more. I mostly use Milorganite for the Hostas. Great success with that, especially since it keeps the cats and rabbits out of the garden. I do not have a dog, if I did it would be a different story.

virginiarose,
I just have to ask in what ways were the daylilies "acting funny" with Alfalfa?

I must say, I had never used the alfalfa before learning about it here on ATP. I have noticed a Big difference in plant growth and the number of worms in my soil.

So August is the time I am supposed to be fertilizing every week?

It's now the first week of September. Did I miss it or can I still fertilize?

Bulbs Keeps Horses Plant and/or Seed Trader
Ok, hosta people. I am on disability and just starting out. Is there anyone who has named hosta shoots they would sell for cheap? I do have a few I could trade? Please let me know what you have to get rid of. Very interested. Thanks

If you have some things to trade, you should post your question in the "Plant and Seed Trading" forum. You may have better luck there. What do you have to trade?
