The Chelsea Flower Show 2011 (Part 4)

By NEILMUIR1
June 21, 2011

This year's Chelsea was a resounding success, both for the visitors and exhibitors alike; a truly captivating array of colour and wonderful horticultural skills, in what are unfavourable economic times. All I saw were smiles and looks of disbelief, as people met old plants they knew, and new plants they had never seen before. So join me on a last trip around Chelsea, before I can put my boots away for a short time.

You got me in the heart with the waterfall pics. I just love waterfalls. I also loved that purple rhodedendron. Thanks for taking us on such a beautiful journey.

Dear Cheryl, it is also a lot of things to remember in my brain! No wonder my poor little brain seemed fried sometime in the early hours of the morning doing these Articles!
Now it is off to Hampton Court Palace Flower Show which is the worlds biggest! More Rechargeable batteries for the camera and more 32GB memory cards!
Then fry my brain as I write Articles on that!
Wish me luck!
Regards.
Neil.

Dear Cheryl, no I love my nephew as he is eight and a real Boy! However my nieces are 16, 15, & 12 and sometimes can be a pain!
Three nieces all at once can tend to fight over things and squabble amongst their selves! As my nephew who is called Alfie, is at the stage where he hates girls, this does not help matters!
My oldest niece is very intelligent and then decided to become vegetarian, which is fine! Now she tells me, she is not a vegetarian anymore, oh Lord help me!
They try to play me and my wife against their own parents (my brother and his wife), often telling us we are allowed to do this at home.
So my brother kindly sent me an e-mail with the rules on it, and they were shocked! Apart from Alfie who does what he is told by me!
No trouble anymore, but they prefer to have a sleepover at friend houses as they can get away with things there!
Alfie likes to stay here as he loves killing snails and getting himself covered in mud, doing things in the garden.
Regards.
Neil.

Dear Muriel, as fat as I know Charley has dropped out of the Army Cadets as he has girls on his mind! Alfie the last time I saw him he was a bit stroppy so he got a clip from me.
I will know more tomorrow as Sarah is going to see Tash!
Love.
Neil.

I know what you mean about the squabbling. My 2 DGSs are 10 and 8. They are both only children and used to having things their own way so they argue and bicker constantly. At times I'd like to knock their heads together if I thought it would help. They love each other dearly but both are a bit selfish where each other are concerned.

Dear Cheryl, they were squabbling again yesterday! This time over the TV, so that got turned off. So then it was about using the computer, so that was also turned off as well.
My mother had to listen to them whining that there was nothing to do. So they were given a book each and told to read that. The look on their faces was comical, read a book when there is TV and a computer. They were horrified!
Regards.
Neil.

When we were kids, staying in the house was punishment. We lived in the woods, playing in the yard, fishing, ect. Hated staying in.

Dear Cheryl, I agree! But nowadays children cannot function without cell phones, TV and computers. That is the world we live in, not like mine or yours!
We had no TV, computers and the nearest phone was miles away!
It is a sad state of affairs when 98 % of inner city children have never seen an apple growing on a tree, but that is a fact!
Regards.
Neil.

It is sad. They miss so much. I am glad I was able to give my kids just a taste of what I had growing up. It's hard being in the ministry because you don't get to pick where you live so we had to be creative to give our kids a "country" life when we lived in town or the suburbs but we found ways to make it happen.
