Looking for a daylily in the Daylilies forum

Hello, I am looking for a daylily, Lucile Young. She was my great grandmother and I would be thrilled if I could find some of "her" daylilys. My grandmother lived in central Florida. If anyone could give recommendations on how I could manage to find this daylily I would be thrilled.

How awesome that a daylily was named for your great grandmother! It might be hard to find since it is so old, as you know.

To start your search, I would recommend that you go to

That is the American Hemerocallis Society's link to the Florida region. There are many email addresses there and maybe some of those people have the daylily or could give you some leads to people in Central Florida who have historic daylily gardens.

I hope that someone who reads your post here will have the daylily and can send a piece to you!

You will enjoy being on ATP. There is a lot of good information here and a lot of helpful people.

McCalley is the hybridizer... 1974

I don't think I have heard of that hybridizer before... Anyone else?

If we don't come up with anything, you might try writing an actual snail mail letter to David Kirchhoff of Daylily World. They have a big website. They moved from Florida to Kentucky a few years back, but he grew up with daylilies and hybridizers in Florida. If anyone could tell you about the hybridizer it might be him.

Daylily, thank you. I will try that. From what I've found on the web, nothing came from McCalley after 1975 or 76.
