Teresa - Thanks for sharing that link! I really like that idea! I already have the knives in the ground, so why not make a marker out of the handle of the knife which is sticking up above the ground anyway. Great idea! I must find some aluminum duct tape! On my list of things to look for the next time I am at HD.

Mine are plastic knives with Artline 70 High performance, permanent markers used to put a number and name. These also go back to an Excel entry and map. If one fails the other should work (touch wood).
The problem is that when you are young your life it is ruined by your parents. When you are older it is ruined by your children.

Michelle, are these the ones that you ordered? I believe the legs and faceplates are stainless steel. That should be durable for a very long time.

Glen, that's about my style.

Especially after spending so much money on daylily rust spray thus far.

I have used plastic knives too but the markers faded Angry

I am downsizing so now I will not need to buy a huge amount of metal markers only about 100.

I use the Everlast markers and my LaserJet to create waterproof labels for them.

Do you use the 10 inch ones.? I think that is what my older ones are. Also have you bought the stainless steel legs? That is what is the worst shape of my older ones.

tink3472 said:The only issue I had with the everlast markers were the wires corroded in about a year. Now they also have the stainless steel wires so it shouldn't be an issue but I like the sturdiness of the Kincaide.

Are you close enough to the Gulf to have a problem with salt air?
I ask because here in central Florida, we're going into the 2nd year with
no corrosion. At least, so far.........

I am nowhere near the Gulf so no problem with that. It's our soil and the things we add to it and fertilizer that corrodes them.

About those mini-blinds for markers.

We found some mini-blinds at Big Lots. The next smallest size cost $3.50, and by actual count, there were 75 slats, each of which will make two markers. There was a 20% off sale today, so that's even better. They're not as wide as the slats from blinds used at one of my favorite daylily nurseries, and they've vinyl, not metal, so how well they hold up in the sun remains to be seen. Will keep you posted.

The two images shown are a bit different because one was taken indoors with flash, and the other without the flash.

Thank you. It's a bit oversize for a coffee table, but we like it. We bought it at 'Rooms To Go' about nine years ago, along with matching end tables, and a brown leather sofa and love seat. Funnily enough, while browsing in a Goodwill Store down in Tampa a few years later, we found a table just like it for sale. Can't imagine why someone got rid of theirs.

If they had to move to a smaller home, might be too big? I would think it would have been difficult to let go of, though. Smiling
