The Chelsea Flower Show

By NEILMUIR1
March 15, 2010

The Chelsea Flower Show is the most famous flower show in the world. Vitally important for the whole of the Horticultural community, it is also important to everyone from statue and furniture makers, to Artists, clothing designers, hat makers, newly released books and the must-have gadgets of the moment. To many people, it is the place to see new plants, to place an order for some or just a social event. Others like to meet the TV gardeners or simply to get a plant identified.

Great article Neal. I have been to Hampton court show as it is in the summer (on a tour). think chelsea sounds more interesting, but only leave our irises for iris conventions. I saw a few people on the Train after HC. with odd plants.
But things were in a muddle that time because of the undergraound bomb attack in London. I do drool everytime I see that lupin border that you use. Lucy

It sounds wonderful to see. Just to see those folks carrying rocks. Just to stand there and watch folks is sometimes very interesting. I believe it would be a good trip. Thanks for telling the details, I can just see it.

Neil, you make me want to find a way to get there and experience the Chelsea Flower Show, and all the other gardens you mention! So beautiful! If I lived there I would definitely be one of the people trying to load a bunch of plants onto public transportation after the show!

Dear Brenda, I am sure Tony and I could take solace in the R.H.S. Members VIP Bar! He is used to smoked salmon and Champagne. Then you can grab plants whilst Tony and I get some gadgets in the men's section. After some Loch Fyne salmon and some decent Champagne of course. Or I could take him to the sausage stand; they cook fine pork sausages there and serve Real Ale, or both!
Not a bad idea, I think!
Regards.
Neil.

Dear Brenda, slight problem there! Sarah would order her plants first and then be straight in the smoked salmon and Champagne tent! Then after I had paid for it she would have much pleasure in telling me that their smoked salmon is not as good as mine (after I have spent a fortune). Usually with a jug of Pimms in her hand.
There is a whole section on the Chelsea flower show on British Gardens.
Here is Sarah being silly, coming out of the Champagne tent.
Regards.
Neil.

Sarah's silly Cat, just like its owner "I need a drink." the only thing the cat does not constantly want is chocolate!

Chocolate is bad for cats and dogs. I like the picture. Independent cat, don't need a bowl of water.

Neil, I don't know how I missed this article, but I am so happy that clusianna gave me the link. I don't have much desire to travel, but after reading your article I would love to walk through the Chelsea Flower Show. What an amazing experience it would be.
Thank you so much for the tour. : )
