I lived in London for 14 years and learned to appreciate the beautiful green spaces everywhere, nowhere more so than in our village of Dulwich where Dulwich Park with its great Rhododendron collection was just down the road. I spent, many, many hours there.

Dear Hetty, I went to school at Dulwich College so know it well. I am going to do an Article on Dulwich Park when the Rhododendron's come out, so look out for that one. I love Dulwich Village and it has not changed at all, a very quaint and beautiful place. From Queen Victoria to the Queen mother, they all visited Dulwich park to see the mass of colour, and some of the Royals still do.
My next Article will be on Beckenham Place Park, which is bigger than the Royal Park at Greenwich! It is a forgotten 'Jewel' and is under threat as the council wishes to sell all 286 Acres of it, which is against the law. It is also famous because Carl Linnaeus stayed in the Mansion House there and was known to have a hand in the planting of the wild wood and some other areas. Some of the original planting still exists to this day. lots of photographs to take on that one.
Dulwich College now has a farmers and craft market every weekend which is very popular indeed, and rightly so.
It is lovely to hear from you and I put everything on my cubit, we are also lucky enough to have a kind Gentleman that sends in pictures from the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew. He has two threads on British Gardens. One was done last summer and early this spring and he has continued with one through the seasons at Kew.

Dear Nancy, now you have spoiled it! I was going to fly you over here when the volcanic ash has gone, and let you have a Homemade English High tea with scones at the top.
However it is in south east London in Catford SE6, London, and borders on Herne Hill.
Wait till you see my next Article it will blow you away. Did you see my Dedication at the bottom to you?
I will probably publish my next one before I go into Hospital.

Thanks Neil! My son went to Dulwich College too and the area you talk about was my 'stomping ground' in London. I have fond memories.
The Farmer's Market was already there - I remember the great apples we used to get. I miss the wonderful English apples!! Egremont Russet!!! YUM

Dear Nancy, I have also put a link on that shows you a map of Mountsfield Park. I hope that is what you so required.
I use to work in the stunning Park that is in my next Article it is famous for; King Henry VIII, Carl Linnaeus and many others, now the council wish tos ell the mansion House off as they have not looked after this 1770 building which is against the law, to a private\company owner. Then to close down half of the only 18-hole Golf course (Public) in London and turn it into a 9-hole course. This is because they think the new owner wants space and privacy, plus car parking space. The only problem is how can they sell something that belongs to the public anyway.
The Article will be out tonight and has lot of stunning photos in it!

Dear Hetty, you will not have to wait long for the next Article. Although it is not far from Dulwich at all, many people do not know it is there. I fear for those that do know it, it will make them happy and then sad. Hetty our stomping ground has changed for the worst with the demolishing of the Parks Departments, their infrastructure and skills, and the use of different contractors who are cheaply paid and have no idea what they are doing. Even listed buildings with the History of King Henry VII and Carl Linnaeus are not safe to the Council's now, not when there are vast amounts of money involved and Knight Hoods to buy, for the top politicians!
