So glad to see the Insect and Bug forum off the ground! To me, pests and diseases seems distinct from insect ID. In one case I'm saying oh no, what is the matter with my plant? In the other I'm saying, wow look at this bug, what is it?

I am so sorry for jumping right in here - I am bursting with excitement! I saw the most amazing creature tonight! Its little head moved just like a bird! It is so beautiful but I don't know what it is. Can anyone identify this for me?
Toni, jump right in! Well, it's definitely a Sphinx Moth of some kind. Didn't someone have a White-Lined Sphinx Moth a few weeks ago that looked like this? Chime in because I don't know this one for sure! Plus, those West Coast species always make me doubt myself.
