Hi, I'm new to this site. I love house plants and out door gardening: flowers. I planted some dahlias earlier this spring. One day I was weeding the garden and went to pull up what I thought was a weed. When I did it had a tubular attached. So I stuck it back in the ground to see what would become of it. To my surprise it was a big beautiful dahlia. I understood them to be annuals here in Kentucky zone 6. It's much bigger than the ones I planted. I'm very pleased Smiling wonder if it will come back next year?

I think dahlias are hardy to zone 8, so I do not think they will over Winter in zone 6.

Here in Michigan, I dig up my dahlia tubers in October-Nov and store them in the cellar.

Then in May, I re-plant for another season.

I've always grown them as annuals here in Kentucky. That's why I was surprised to see that this was a dahlia when it bloomed
