Rose F Kennedy is a large bloom and so is Yellow Mammoth. Wispy Rays and Cinnamon Sunrise are large as well.

Awesome. My neighbors all have Stella D'Oro. Lol. I can't wait to plant something different. I get so tired of seeing the same old thing.

I'm wondering if anyone knows of large spider/uf types that do not break off in the slightest breeze, something a little thicker substanced? I have Yellow Mammoth and I love the huge tall blooms, but almost every morning it is broken. It seems the slightest anything and it is broken. Is this something that most all these kind do or are there some varieties that don't do that as much?

Thin Man held up amazingly well as did Cat's Craddle and Hesperus. Dipped in Ink and Laugh at Me did not seem to hold up (and I do mean up, they wanted to lay down) as well, also lost more petals more easily. Of couse, none of them could stand 40 mph winds without lots of protection but that is just Oklahoma for ya.

Thin Man should dance for you well. But I often have to prop in high winds.

Laughing Giraffe is likely the one you are thinking about. I love Thin Man it makes a statement in my garden. I have quite a few UF's with large blooms.
If you want to be happy for a lifetime plant a garden!

I love the spidery ones! I am adding Thin Man. Hurricane Bob is one of my best tall spiders. Dark Monkey a Gossard is also strong.
I have Webster's Pink Wonder and I like it but does tend to lean.

I like that 'Webster's Pink Wonder' - must have.

This is not the best shot but here is my WPW. Hard to tell the size with nothing to compare it too.

My Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Wind Frills') laughed in the face of high winds that blew through here a week or so ago. It's been blooming here for several weeks now, and it's doing quite well growing in just bright shade. Smiling Granted, its placement is somewhat protected by the woods next door, but I'm still impressed by it.

Wind Frills has been a blooming machine here this summer. I have had it for a long time but I have never seen it bloom as well as it has this summer.

I think Northwind dancer is meant to "dance" in the wind! I am starting to collect tall, spidery pastels for a special bed and these are some I have and like: Gudrid / Miss Jessie / Parfait / Jurassic Spider / Northwind Dancer / Under the Wire. Woodhenge Gardens is the home of Margo Reed and Jim Murphy, both of whom do wonderful tall many budded UFs and Spiders. Brian Mahieu's cultivars are being sold here and there, and are usually quite tall, well budded and sturdy.

blue23rose said:I just purchased Give Me Eight (a white poly) so I don't know how it performs, but it is an 8" bloom on a 48" scape. There are several good pictures in the database. Mine hasn't had a good bloom since I just got it.

I have Give Me Eight and it does poly.

height 20in (51cm), bloom 10in (25.5cm), season M, Rebloom, Dormant, Diploid, Ivory self with green throat.

This is big and pretty, but it is very short for its size and not for everyone. It is actually more cream than it looks in these shots.
