Cardboard is not heavy enough. Cardboard is good if you want to attract earwigs to eat other bugs though.

At Daylily Mecca I saw all the big daylily operations using that weed block fabric and was in awe of the beautiful gardens.
Fact here is that I may never be able to afford decent weed block fabric.

Wet cardboard is very heavy here. I use packing boxes and they seem to work quite well for me. And it is faster than laying down several layers of newspaper for me. But that's just me though. I have also used newspaper, but it tends to rip really easy which can be a problem. I have a dog that runs around when we are sometimes laying down newspaper. I spray water on the layers of newspaper as I am laying them down, but stepping on it can be a bit of a challenge to try not to rip it by accident, which is why I started using cardboard. Cardboard (and newspaper) also attracts earthworms! (Which I want in my yard!) Thumbs up Thumbs up Thumbs up

Thanks, I wasn't aware of them. They have a location in Apopka, which is not too far to drive when making a major purchase, <G>

I bought mine at a stone store on US 1 between St. Augustine and Jacksonville. They had 2 or 3 different weights and probably 5 different widths. They use it under their stone projects.

Thank you for that. I tracked them down, using Google, and found their website.
Better still, they have a branch in Middleburg, less than 3 miles from where we will
be tomorrow afternoon.

I cannot thank you enough for that recommendation. We visited their Middleburg store today, and looked over the available fabric. Selected a 4oz (evidently that's how they're graded) fabric.
a 250 ft roll of 4 ft wide fabric is within our grasp, and we'll be purchasing one at the end of the month, and another one in a couple of months.
