I can't remember which thread or who told me my Devil's Trumpet is a heavy feeder, but I listened and my short little plant got fed, more sun and more water by sitting under the slow dripping hose leak. That was about 2 weeks ago. Look what I caught blooming tonight! It was supposed to be yellow but it is more of a cream color. But I was pleasantly surprised it was a double! And it smells heavenly! Sorry, it hard to see this in the dark of night with a harsh flash.

Anyone care to ID this one??

Looks a lot like my Datura inoxia, Cheryl. I've heard it called Angel's trumpet or Jimson weed, but I've never seen it double. I've only ever seen it in white.

Don't you just love it?

On the other hand, the foliage looks a little different; so it's just a guess.

Not sure what variety, it's most likely a datura metel, there are several doubles. I grew this one years ago.

The Moonflower is most likely the vine Ipomoea alba.

This one looks like it could be the Datura metel 'Double White Lady'.

Thanks for whomever moved this to Plant ID. I had trouble finding it! Hahahaaa I will call it datura metal but not "Double White Lady". In the daylight it is actually yellow! The label wasn't wrong! Hurray! Any guesses as to her name now? It is more yellow than the photo shows. I hope to get abetter shot of it inat dusk to show it's color and will put it in the Database. I love acorns, you know? Rolling on the floor laughing I hope there are more blooms to come. Don't you think the way it "doubles" is odd?

@Sharon, I have pink Angels Trumpet, brugmansia all over my yard. They are different in that the trumpets bloom downward and grow very fast. I am thinking of growing one in a pot to further enhance/hide my new greenhouse.

@Lysmachiamoon Annie, I do believe the actual Moonflower is a vine. It has similar blooms and just as pretty.

The flower bud looked nothing like the one in the database, called, "Double Yellow". It was elongated. ETA OH WAIT! That pic was of a seed pod! DUH! insert Hits self on head icon.

Your purple is gorgeous! I think sometimes we give up fragrance for beauty. I wanted a purple but my driveway where the only sun is is getting crowded!

Thanks! Actually this one seems to be doing much better for me with getting only morning sun. My D. inoxia loves the full sun, but not the D. metel. Shrug!

The blooms last one day each but it keeps producing new blooms for a very long time. Deadhead the seed pods to promote continuous blooms.
