Awesome, though, your sleuthing led to its ID and that's helpful to everyone who wonders at a bloom. I know I have puzzled this summer, and found that same thing happen in both garden and porch-pots, that when I touch and follow the scape it may be one from "another mother" than I thought!
I am really beginning to appreciate how varied blooms may be, one after another. It is so helpful to see that range in the database, too. Whether we see differences because of sun exposure (end of day, etc), FFO vs later blooms, or just normal and expected variation in blossoms - it lends confidence to see that it is not always a mis-labeled plant. I think in some ways daylilies are like kids who go through "growing pains" or "awkward stages" ... sometimes the blooms are still in the middle of settling in to their final form.
