Believe me, it made a statement this morning! When I opened the front door to let the cats in for breakfast, 'Scarlet Pimpernel' called out "look at me and what a beautiful morning"!

It grows right at the bottom of the front steps; this is its 4th year and while it has bloomed nicely other years, not with 7 flowers fully open all at once. I couldn't get a good picture of the clump, my eyes seemed to see it more clearly than the camera lens.
But this was one of those WOW moments for me as a gardener!

Nice to see you in the daylily forum, Linda! What a fantastic way to start the day, and such a terrific daylily to do it with! Thumbs up Do you have others we'll be seeing? And, any chance your photo will get added to the database? I love side-shots like that which not only show the flower but its 3-dimensional shape, too. Group hug

Looks like it was worth the wait. It's funny how some daylilies take 3 years or even more to really show what they can do. That one is stunning!

I have a seedling that I almost disposed of last year because the scapes would always fall over. This year, which is the 3rd season, scapes are tall and not leaning and the bloom is huge.

It sure does look wow!
The problem is that when you are young your life it is ruined by your parents. When you are older it is ruined by your children.
