Cover your fruit trees with netting to keep the birds from stealing all of your fruit.

When you sow those itty bitty seeds any time, the birds know it too, so netting over the soil keeps the birds at bay. When the seeds sprout, thin the lesser ones and remove the netting. It works every time.
