Thanks Greg! I still have some semps to move around. This is such a fun planting experiment.

The wind blew here all day, which wasn't a bad thing for me. It dried the grass out and I got all of the lawns mowed today. I am so thankful.

I need to do a weed check on the 14 raised beds. Shouldn't be very much in them to take care of. I did remove the leaves today that had blown into the beds.
Cliff picked up the fallen apples for me and did the weed eating around the beds. What a blessing he was to me today.

The semps are looking amazing in the fall colors. I didn't have time to take any photos. I finished the mowing in the dark. Rolling my eyes.
I had to push the mower when doing the front yard, going along the north side of the house to the back yard it decides to self propel itself. Another blessing. I don't think I could have got the far back yard done if I had to push the mower the entire time.

Last week I enlarged the bed around the Mimosa tree in the front yard and planted two more hellebore. I still need to finish mulching the north side of the house.
I really want to get the beds along the back of the house cleaned out and mulched before weather gets to bad.

Tomorrow will be sunny but cold. It is our anniversary so we will go to Otis for breakfast and then on to the coast for lunch. Back home before dark.

It was so cold and windy here today. Lynn I can't believe you did all that work out side. I'm a wimp! Have fun tomorrow.

Wow! Lots of things to do there Lynn..good thing you will take a much needed break tomorrow.

Julia..that looks so chilly and blue!

We are having a remarkably nice weather for now. Though we did have a rather foggy morning earlier. And surprisingly too, rather quiet and calm...I guess all the winds are up and over..hope everyone up there stays comfy warm. Usually we get strong winds already at this time and oftentimes I get downed containers here and there. But not this time..thankfully.

Brrrrrr, that looks cold Julia. But oh so beautiful. What a view. Lovey dubby
I had long sleeves on with a thick vest on over that. Stayed toasty warm with all the physical activity. I did have to take Aleve when I came in.

Tarev, maybe you will just bypass all the wind this year. Hurray!

Putting that burlap (or was it moss) around the wire made a big difference in those planters! I started a wreath with some of the extra semps that came when I bought them this summer, plus dividing up the clumps from the NoIDs in our front bed -- I probably should have taken a picture, but it really still looks so scraggly! I poked sheet moss around the edges, and now it's all bundled up in remay like the pots and the rock garden and put in a sheltered spot next to where the foundation meets the entryway... Next spring!

That pond looks lovely! Chilly, maybe, but it's large enough to help moderate your temperatures. Our pond is much smaller than that, but we still notice a big difference down there -- it's closer to zone 5 than zone 4.

Now we're waiting for the cold front to end our nice little break later today -- and hopefully we'll get enough snow, even though the current storms seem as if they're going south of us. Thank goodness for Lake Effect! Sticking tongue out

Going to experiment on this glass container with no holes..I was initially using it for that cyclamen tuber. So have added some lava rock with the clay rocks and gel beads. Then a few small semps... Will see if this set-up will work. Not too concerned anymore about the cyclamen if that one will bother to grow. But it would be fun if it can still manage to alongside the semps.

I don't think the cyclamen will thrive in that container. It needs a more acid soil, and a little shade or filtered light. Do you have a container that can provide that? It is staying dormant because it's needs are not met.

I have other containers...but I am intentionally testing that tuber. If it fails..it's okay..it has already bloomed last year, so just playing around with it. So far that tuber endured our very dry and hot summer indoors, so now the container is outdoors, to let it feel the cooler air.

I have found out with a similar experiment, I can change the media in the amaryllis where it is traditionally planted in ground or in container with soil, it can also thrive with just clay rocks and gel beads in a glass container with no holes as long as I keep the bulb dry and just the root zone with moisture. So I am testing if it will be similar with cyclamen knowing it hates getting too wet.

Oh it gets very wet here in the fall through the end of spring. But it does go dormant during our summer months of drought, unless they are watered in the bed along the north side of the house.

Yeah, it is a mix bag here too during Fall through Spring. If we have a forecast of rains, like we had last night, I moved this container inside my growcamp to keep it dry but still chilled. I just moved it out this morning and back to its north/northeast location..that's it for rains...till sometime next week again.

Ah, it is the actual product name of the vegetable growing house that I have been using instead to house my orchids during summer and some other tender plants during winter.

This noid semp has adjusted well:

It certainly enjoys our overnight to early morning temps 39-41F. Thankfully we still manage to reach 60 to 65 later.
