I'm propagating Winterberries and Hydrangeas right now. I have best luck with these under a ziplock baggie. I spray with a fungicide to keep them from rotting. I don't use the EZ Clone propagator for either of these plants. I'm also air layering a few Winterberries and Hydrangeas outside. I'll know soon which method worked best.

What are you propagating?

Nothing right at the moment. The cloner is empty but as soon as it cools and vacation is over I want to try coneflowers like you showed in another thread.

I'm trying to root some cuttings from my Franklin Tree - Franklinia alatamaha and Naughty Nick Brugmansia - oddly enough, I was getting faster results last Fall and Winter with the cloning machine than I am now!

It's fun to experiment and learn which methods and time of the year work best.

My air layering of the winterberry worked. I removed one today and it had really good roots. I'm going to wait a few weeks for the other one. My cuttings are looking good too. I am rooting a new one with yellow berries.

Hurray! Love it when plans work out. Didn't know there was one with yellow berries. Do you have a picture of that from winter?

Mine are smaller right now but I'll have a photo when the berries turn yellow this fall.

Not odd at all. In general, most woody plants will root better from dormant cuttings than growing. Second best time is usually at the semi-hardwood stage, as new growth hardens up.

With Winterberries I'm having better luck with fresh green growth. To root the hard wood cuttings I just air layer them.

I'm doing only house plants this year. The past few weeks, I've done some Sans (snake plant) leaves, a pretty Kalanchoe that I want a PATCH of, not just a few stems!

Cool, Clint! Since this morning, I've gone on a mad repotting and cuttings spree. Various succulent cuttings are in a basket, drying. I'll find places to stick them tomorrow.

I gave up trying to root cuttings as everything was rotting. I get my best results in Fall.

Here is my clivia seedling. I am excited because I usually suck at seed planting. I only got one to propagate out of 6. I call that a success in my book! Thumbs up
