Lin, the coloring of this plant by your camera is amazing. Can't decide whether I see more red or pink or what in this pic. I was also attracted to the asymmetry of the budding leaves and of that of this particular flower. Pics of other flowers were more rounded and not as interesting...Thanks for sharing!

Bev, thank you. I still have this plant in a container but it's not doing so great; part got frozen during a cold snap and the poor thing is extremely root bound ... I really should put it in the ground but our dog has destroyed a lot of hedges in the seven months we've had him so I hesitate to plant anything in the yard for now lest he destroy it when he's chasing lizards. With different lighting the bloom color looks different but the true color is a deep burgundy red as in the last photo below:
