Wow - that's a beautiful garden, Sherry.

My Epson Artisan 730 has a slot for the film/memory card that connects to my computer and to iPhoto, where the photos are downloaded. From there it's very easy to print out most sizes of photos.

Thanks, the decomposed granite is easy enough to work with.. easier if you have someone moving it for you. Most of my paths don't have edges.. and I don't know that I'd do the brick on end again (at least on a curve), as the hose gets stuck on it all the time. Interestingly, the wine bottles on end don't have the same problem.

OK -- so I need more educating here.

When I download photos from my camera, I do so on my laptop computer. If I wanted to have these printed out, I would burn a dvd with the ones that I want -- and take that dvd to a photo processing center.

Or -- I could put the dvd in my desktop computer and print photos from there?

Or -- I could upload the pictures from my laptop to a memory stick and put that in my desktop computer and print photos from it?

Have I got that right?

Does your desktop computer have a slot for a memory card? If so, you could just take the card out of your camera, put it in your computer, and print.
Or just connect your camera directly to a USB port on your desktop, pull up the pictures, then print.

I'd have to look, Leslie. It's not a reeeeeel old desktop -- but not new. Definitely have a USB port. Thing is -- I like to store my pictures on my laptop, which is the computer I use the most. As soon as I upload them, I delete them from the camera. And I usually won't need a print-out of any of those pictures for a long time. For instance, my Mom just asked me a couple of days ago for a picture of her house. I have a bunch of them -- and can go through them on my laptop and find the one or two pictures I think she'd enjoy the most. But then I have to get that picture from my laptop to either my desktop, or a processing center.

So the USB port thing usually won't work for me. Too bad though -- that would be the easiest!

Make sure you make a back up all of your photos. If the hard drive crashes on your laptop, you could lose all of your photos.

You can also just bring your digital camera to a photo center and print the pictures you want. (Walgreens, Walmart, CVS, Costco, and...) Or you can create an account an upload the photos you want and order the prints to be ready for pick-up.

I didn't know about creating an account -- and being able to order and then pick-up. That's interesting!! Thanks Rob. Smiling

Mary Ann - there are several online photoprinters. Just check a few out and see which works best for your needs.

Sherry, do you have a 'plan' of what you are going to plant in the beautiful new bed?

I email my pics to my yahoo or msn mail. Then if my computer crashes, my important forever photos are in email. I never use the email given by my internet provider. If you change providers, you lose the email address.

Also, it may be wise to get a wireless laser printer. The newer devices, like smart phones can print to it from anywhere. Laser, as opposed to ink jet, doesn't run and get ruined by moisture. The toner cartilages are much more expensive but last longer than than the extra expense over ink cartridges. One eliminates photo processing.

When I change out my archaic equipment for less archaic equipment, that is what I am going to do. I also use color printing for my business though. I am looking forward to making my own mailers that don't run if they get water or coffee splashed on them when they sit on someones desk.
Don't make fear based decisions.

A color wheel around the circular part! What a cool idea. Thumbs up Now that would have been great around my tree ring.

I am sure it is going to look great no matter what you choose.
