I was at the nursery yesterday and they had 2 fair sized adenium that had double blooms. I really didn't need any more adenium but I couldn't resist. I liked them both but ended up going for the more flashy 2 tone one. Now I need to get it a pot and find a spot in the sun for it that is safe from the cats.

and the one I didn't get, but really wanted.

Well, the funny thing is things are really looking up here at the nurseries. When I started hanging out on ATP I was amazed at the beautiful adeniums I saw, I'd never seen a double. The regular single blooms are common here, they get huge in the ground and it seems like everyone has at least a few. They were all the same though, single blooms and mostly pink. I would look at all the options you guys in the US had and just drool. I think it was last year I saw the first double for sale at a plant show. It was really expensive and I didn't buy it. Now I see 2 at a regular nursery and they were the same price as the others. I also found a Hoya this week and I've never seen one of those here either.

Whatever is happening, I'm happy that the options are growing in my area. When I first moved here full time, about 7 years ago, I would have a list of stuff I wanted whenever someone was going back to the US. These days I usually can't think of anything I need. Part of that may be that I have adjusted to what is here but part of it is also that the options in everything have gotten much greater. From root beer to bamboo sheets, there are things available here that I never used to see. Of course, I live in a growing and very prosperous city not out in the country.
