I did add some items to the architecture this morning. I added pollinators, water needs, and the new checkbox in propagation:seeds.

As for the other ones (pH, soil needs, and growth rate) I left them for another time. Smiling

Sure. The options we have are:

In Water
Wet
Wet Mesic
Mesic
Dry Mesic
Dry

What do you think would make a good mouseover description?

Mesic means moderately wet. Do we need all of the gradations (wet mesic and dry mesic)? Can we get by on "In water; Wet; Moderately wet; Dry"? Or perhaps we could have "In water; Wet; Medium; Dry"?

Wet - poorly drained, soil usually saturated, plants may be periodically inundated

Wet Mesic - soil often saturated, but may be dry at certain times of the year

Mesic - average moisture

Dry Mesic - well drained, soil remains moist for a short period after precipitation

Dry - excessively drained

I just noticed these fields. Nice addition!

since your already using jquery you can use their build in range slider (https://jqueryui.com/resources...)
for inputing and searching ph ranges .

That would require a pretty major change to the database since we only currently support checkboxes, pulldowns or text fields.

Ideally we could put in the various ph ranges we want as checkboxes and you check off all that apply. If I add a slider later it would be easy for me to transition the data to slider form.

The only decision to make on pH is do we represent it as "Acidic" and "Basic" or do we get down into the nitty gritty of actual pH numbers.

Just my opinion, but I'd much prefer checkboxes covering the numbers at maybe half point increments.

Or, we could follow NRCS's classification of soil pH?

Extremely acid..................3.5 – 4.4
Very strongly acid............4.5 – 5.0
Strongly acid....................5.1 – 5.5
Moderately acid...............5.6 – 6.0
Slightly acid......................6.1 – 6.5
Neutral...............................6.6 – 7.3
Slightly alkaline................7.4 – 7.8
Moderately alkaline..........7.9 – 8.4
Strongly alkaline...............8.5 – 9.0

I don't have any idea how widely accepted that classification system is, or if there is a better one somewhere else, but NRCS does probably employ more soil scientists than any other agency on the planet. Shrug!
