I wonder if there is a case for creating a separate forum for discussing the merits/quality/experiences of various garden tools? If not - where would it fit?

@Dave might be willing to create a Garden Tool forum if there were enough interest. I like the idea and would definitely frequent the forum.

I have a bunch to say about the water wands I use that are guaranteed for 6 years but start falling apart before 6 months have passed, lousy hoses as well. A tool thread might be very helpful. Thumbs up

I think the "All Things Gardening" forum would be where I would start a thread on tools, Start one up and see how many replies and how much interest it generates, it might grow into a separate forum.

I like that idea also. I am trying the pocket hose for the second time. It didn't make it through one growing season last year. Thought I would give it one more try this year.

Here is a list from the All Things Gardening Forum dealing with tools and equipment used in gardening. It would be great if they could be in a Garden Tools Forum.

The thread "Watering tools-What do you like?" in Tools and Stuff forum
The thread "Tool discussion Byers All-in-1 Pruner, Knife and Tool Sharpener" in Tools and Stuff forum

The subject title could be changed to Pruning Saws on this thread.
The thread "Tool discussion Byers All-in-1 Pruner, Knife and Tool Sharpener" in Tools and Stuff forum

The thread "My favorite garden tool..." in Tools and Stuff forum
The thread "Stirrup Hoe/Oscillating Hoe opinions" in Tools and Stuff forum
The thread "Best shovel in the world?" in Tools and Stuff forum
The thread "Harbor Freight Dolly" in Tools and Stuff forum

These two could be combined into one thread?
The thread "Flexible hose - Best review" in Tools and Stuff forum
The thread "Expandable Hose" in Tools and Stuff forum

The thread "Hound Dog weeding tool" in Tools and Stuff forum
The thread "mobile compost barrel" in Soil and Compost forum
The thread "Garden bypass pruners at Costco" in Tools and Stuff forum
The thread "need opinions on my home made garden tools" in Tools and Stuff forum
The thread "Best garden hose" in Tools and Stuff forum
The thread "Can anyone recommend a good small chipper-shredder?" in Tools and Stuff forum
The thread "Measuring Spoons & other gadgets" in Tools and Stuff forum
The thread "TOOLS! I want folding shears for deadheading that I can carry in my pocket!" in Tools and Stuff forum
The thread "Cobrahead Weeder" in Tools and Stuff forum

May I suggest an enhancement to have the forum be about Tools and Materials ?

I am thinking of the posts I've read about weed barrier and the problems it can cause as it ages. The advantage of one kind of mulch vs another kind of mulch, etc.

Smiles,
Lyn

I love the idea of a tools and gadgets forum.

Is there a good way to widen it a little, like Garden Tools and ... ?

The only one I could think of is already covered by the word "tools".
Garden Tools and Irrigation

Maybe expand the "Garden Structures" forum to be "Garden Tools and Structures"?

(Edited to add, I'm glad we have a new Tools forum.)

I didn't know we had a forum for Garden Structures.

Maybe we can keep the two forums separate?

I do like the idea of Garden Tools and Gadjets.

Maybe we should have a separate forum for Irrigations? There is so much that could be covered on that topic.
