Hooray Tarev!! Looks great! Thanks for letting me know how to care for mine winter growing succulents (providing more water than the other ones at this time of year)
Here is a photo of my "sticks" aeonium (can't remember the cultivar) in an 18inch pot so they're pretty large!

Your Aeoniums are doing fantastic too Greg! I think it is the same as my Aeoniums that are currently actively growing..Aeonium arboreum, I guess my plants are just getting a lot of water right now from the rains so it is quite green. But it does get those transitioning burgundy colors later when it becomes cooler and dryer. Smiling

Another batch of my Aeonium cuttings are showing active growth...thankfully these ones were unfazed by our all day long downpour yesterday..seems to enjoy it even more.

I love their purple color. I never got into Aeoniums because I don't like monocarpic plants. But I still enjoy looking at pics of them. Green Grin!

I have learned now with Aeoniums, as long as the stem is good, I can chop off the rosette that is attempting to bloom and wait for cool Fall weather to plant it, and it will come back nicely Smiling I have two bolters right now..though it is tempting to chop off the rosettes, I just want to see it finish the cycle of blooming. So far it has not been successful to complete it, oftentimes Mother Nature breaks the stem for me.

Will just add here the updates on my Aeoniums..winter is their season indeed! Color transitions and very, very active growth.
Deeper burgundy colors as they grow bigger too:
Thumb of 2015-01-30/tarev/8373f8
This one is partially shadowed by the bigger Aeonium hierrense, so the burgundy colors are like mittens at the edge/tip of the leaves.
Thumb of 2015-01-30/tarev/77e118

Love this batch a lot, with the trees dormant, getting more sun, and it is slowly transitioning to some deep burgundy colors too. But usually it leaves a green middle portion.

Very lovely Tarev! Thanks for the updates!! Mine are looking sad right now but I know they'll look better in another couple of weeks and then I move them outside where they flourish here in the summer because our summers are cooler!
I tip my hat to you.

Tarev I know that is funny! Same with my haworthia (although this year I kept watering them and they're under a bit heavier lights so they're not going winter dormant!!) and again we just don't usually get warm or dry enough for them to go dormant in Seattle in the summer Thumbs up

Love this stage when Aeoniums are in their more pronounced darker burgundy colors. Cool mornings and temps gradually into the low 70's, as much sun it can get, plus the occasional drizzle helps those colors go more prominent.

Took some photos of the Aeoniums...sudden cool downs and shade, then rain yesterday. Aeonium arboreum zwartkop turns from burgundy to almost black:

My other Aeonium arboreum continues its nice color transition, and dropping its old outer winter leaves. The blooming stalks are making a second flush of new buds, interesting to watch, I thought it is finished already. I was waiting how it will end its blooming phase.

Tarev how beautiful!!! Mine are needing to go outside, but there is another cold spell for this next week, so, going to wait. They aren't looking great but better than last year! I noticed neighbors of mine kept some outdoors here this winter, they had them in a rock garden, very sheltered and south facing...May try that for this next winter, as they sure don't like being indoors!
Yours are totally magical though! Thanks for posting I tip my hat to you.

Various Aeoniums are in sleep mode once more. I was trying to see if our recent cool down might wake them up, but slumber continues, it knows it is not yet time Smiling

Thanks for sharing this, Tarev. I don't think enough attention is paid to dormancy schedules of succulents, and I think this is often why they croak! Too much water while sleeping, not enough water while growing, feeding at the wrong times, etc etc.

I lost a ton of nice Adeniums over the winter when I first moved to FLorida...all their leaves fell off, I panicked, I watered them, tried to repot and move them thinking they weren't in enough sun, and they all rotted and died. All a lesson in care during dormancy!!!
Your thread has shown me a few other plant genera that are summer dormant which is very helpful. Thanks!

You're welcome Kate! It also took me awhile to understand this, since I thought all succulents are more active in summer. Well, apparently not in my area since we get into the extreme side of heat and dryness.

Oh I have also killed young Adeniums, lesson learned, that it requires a bit more moisture than the older more established ones but still giving it intervals in watering since it is in a dormant phase. Oh well..live and learn. Smiling
