We may end up finding out, like so many other things with semps, that some varieties may be able to start this way while others may not. The trials I did were from a single variety which is definitely not conclusive given what we've seen. Cinta, the flowers on the plant definitely looked like semp flowers to me, so I never questioned whether it was a semp.

I have been given permission from George Merkl to use photos he sent me. In them he shows that he has had success starting sempervivum from leaves. I will start a new thread using his photos. I hope he will come post and explain how he has done this.

Me too! I tried it with Packardian and it was doing great, but had a puppy run through the bed so...sadly it didn't make it, but it did have roots beginning so I now Packardian is one that will do this
