thanks, Kyla--enjoyed the tour! Hurray! You have really great space to work with, including the beds that are already there *and* the beds-to-be. Smiling

Thanks! And yes, taking it slow is good advice, if I can do it, LOL!

It is a great space in many ways, certainly lots to work with. I am not bored. Hilarious!

Hey Kyla, I need to take a short break just looking at the pictures, please take Rita advice and take it slow. What a project and it is lovely. I like the way you use the little river rocks or whatever you call them, but I have one real question...Who mows the grass? As a long time grass mower, and at my home where I was raised we had all formal gardens, we were never happy about curved beds. Hilarious! Lovey dubby It looks to me like there are a lot of curves in your beds. Wow, that would take a hand mower for sure or a weed wacker. How do you do it?

I believe the curved shapes are my cousin's design. I know what you mean about the mowing! There's a fellow who was friends with my uncle, who has landscape maintenance business. He "takes care of the yard" which means, he sends his guys to mow and blow when he thinks it needs done. Occasionally my cousin contracts him to do extra projects, such as weeding and mulching. They came and moved a little fig tree for us recently and I am delighted that it seems to be surviving having been moved this time of year!

Anyway, I have nothing to do with any mowing, thank goodness. I always say I don't do lawns, but we've been SO dry, I do water (by moving a sprinkler around) when it gets crunchy, which it is now in some areas. Sad

I would never design beds with such tight curves but that was here when I came, so.... Green Grin!

And, yes, they use hand mowers, not the riding on kind. Usually there are two pushmowers at once going, when they buzz through. It's a mow blow and go kind of crew, and I have expressed that while they are nice fellas I do not consider them gardeners.

I think she is very lucky to have those yardmen. Keep them happy.....here on the farm we have acres of grass to mow and much of it is between trees, I hate it and sometimes I get really sore after a few hours of twisting and turning. I drive the small mower since I am the smallest one here and I have to do the big trees with not much room between them. We only do them twice a month, so it is not really too bad. I just get on my mower and go with the flow...singing at the top of my lungs....even the Mexicans working in the fields across the street can hear me. Rolling on the floor laughing

The yard fellas are a real fixture. The guy whose business it is is not only a family friend but a fairly close neighbor, brought us by "a mess of beans" while green beans were coming in, shared his compost with me, gave me the hog fence I pieced together to contain my compost, etc. He's a good guy.
