Ann, they mainly use it on crabs. Zap, bang, bang on the side of a branch, then gulp. Sometimes, they will sit on an exposed rock in the mudflats at low tide - watching the unsuspecting, tasty crustacea.

Ahhhhh, I can see that. Fiddler crabs? And I'm sure even larger crabs. Sure had fun playing with crabs as a kid. Of course, we didn't mess with the really big ones. Hilarious! Only takes getting pinched once to learn that lesson. Whistling

Love those goldfinches on the coneflowers. My cousin leaves the heads on hers too. They have the lesser goldfinches where she lives in Texas & they go crazy over the seed.

Claudia: Love your pictures of the Goldfinch on the beautiful Coneflowers!

Dave: Do you have Robins in your area year-round? I love that second shot where he's really standing up straight. I'd love it if Robins were here in Fla. year round. Great shots of the beautiful Purple Finch and the Jay too! Look forward to hopefully seeing pic's of those baby Wrens when they are big enough to show themselves!

Cat: Great shots! I don't know if that's a Brewers Blackbird or not, either that one or possibly the Rusty Blackbird? Love the Nuthatch and the finches! I love seeing photo's of all these birds that we don't get here in Florida!

Good evening to all,
My name is Karin, I live in central Massachusetts in a small rural town on 11 acres. I am fortunate that this property seems to draw in many different kinds of birds. Hummingbirds are all over the place now and I must fill the feeders every other day to keep everyone happy. I tried to upload a little movie I took but was unsuccessful so I'll have to see if I can just get some still shots. Love to see all the different pics of the birds!

We have several pairs of rose-breasted grosebeaks that love to eat my black oil sunflower seed. They visit the feeder numerous times a day.

Hi Karin! Welcome to the Backyard Bird threads! Oh, those Rose-breasted Grosbeaks are sooo pretty, love the color! I envy you with 11 acres; I bet you have all kinds of wildlife on your property and I look forward to seeing more great photo's of the birds that visit your place!

Regarding the movie ... I'm not certain but I think I read somewhere a couple of years ago that the ATP site doesn't support movies/video so that might be why it didn't work. Keep those pictures coming though!

Dave: Love that moon shot! My husband just took the dog out for a walk and came back in the door to tell me how neat the moon looked tonight. Since I missed the true full super moon last night I went out a few minutes ago to take some pictures.
