Char, you must have the most wonderful of gardens.

DANCES WITH GIRAFFES

I forgot to take this picture until after 6:30 last evening, and I was amazed that there was still this much color left after our 102 degree day of intense sunlight! I just love this daylily!

ARoseblush said:Mike....I try to treat to treat everything in my life with respect, and that includes my daylilys. It would appear that my daylily's have a sense of humor that is not wasted on me. Glad they hear my pleas.

Okay. I have lots to show you but just for now, I want to show you the most beautiful daylily in my garden right now. I have waited 3 summer's for this one to bloom. Unfortunately, I brought it as a single fan, and because of this plant, I never have brought another single fan plant since. Either I pay the money for a dbl. fan, or I don't buy it. This is probably one of the best intros Nicole ever hybridized.....at least so far. In the garden it is just stunning. Very clean, and true to its color, and stats.

Found this on LA at a good price and I bid on it. I usually do not plant this late but I thought I would try it.

Oh Cindy......Didn't take you long to find this treasure. Good for you. Will you plant it in the ground or a pot? Fingers crossed it makes it thru the Winter. If it gets planted NOW, with lots of fertilizer and mulch it should be fine. Bravo! Thumbs up

Smiling Thank you Glen, I don't know that the gardens are wonderful, but I enjoy them. They are always a work in progress as the weeds want to take over and I try to push the envelope of what grows here willingly without a lot of fussing. There are so many cool plants I'd love to grow, or even just see. If I could have a palm tree or one each of a thousand other warmer zone plants ....it would be dangerous for me to live in a warmer climate. Big Grin

Alex, yes I saw the red teeth or fringe, too. I've heard others say that Rogue has them I've just never seen them quite like this year. So weird with all the cold weather.

A few more images...

Metaphysical Shrug, this one has really improved with age. A large clump now of deep purple blooms with heavy pleating.

Share a Little, a small soft pink bloom on a fabulous plant.

Silver Waffle, a favorite of the crepe textured cultivars, super plant and an easy parent for passing on the texture.

Pouring rain today, tomorrow, and Friday. That system that was in the midwest, yesterday in the mid atlantic, and now today has caught up with us in the northeast. So I thought I would show a few leftovers that are still blooming, and some end of summer garden shots.

TED'S TRIBUTE TO LINDA - FFOE - Also, a late bloomer probably because it takes the warmest part of the summer to help this gorgeous huge flower to open successfully. 8+ inches in overall size, with a yellowish/green edge that has to be 3/4". It's a massive and beautiful bloom when it all comes together just right, and a remarkable tribute to Linda Agin.

BAJA CALIFORNIA - FFOE - 2nd yr. in my garden. Did not bloom last year. Another huge bloom. 3 scapes have large buds on it. The colors in 'Baja', makes me feel like I am lounging on a beach in St. Martin's WI sipping a Planters' Punch or Mai Tai. Wishful thinking in January.

Thumb of 2014-08-13/ARoseblush/6b8f76

ICICLES - I planted 'Icicles' in mid May. It came with 2 small scapes, and bloomed for several weeks in June. But it was a small plant and I was worried about it. About a month ago, I fertilized it again with Alfalfa and fish meal. Well, it send up 3 small rebloom scapes . This is the first bloom on rebloom scales.

Speaking of rebloom. Take a look at 'Emerald Dream' which just finish a 2 month bloom.

finding those

Thank-you, Vickie. I am most interested like many members who grow seedlings on ATP, in finding the perfect patterned daylily. But what is perfect?
'Cutting Loose X Gaskins A-103' while not patterned is quite lovely in its simplicity, white halo, and super white edge on petals. It will be interesting to see if teeth develop around the edge. 'Cutting Loose', the parent, has a serrated edge of teeth around its edge, so fingers crossed that this trait continues with this sdlg.

Fred....Beautiful new 2015 intro. Congrats. I tip my hat to you.

Lovely! Everyone is a winner!

I grow seedlings for the flowers of course, patterns, ruffles, teeth, even plain colored ones. I think I'd like to have a mix, but what I really want is some that grow well for me and perhaps show rust resistance, too. I would love to have a blooming clump of any like some I've seen here. I think that would be my top goal. Thumbs up

Pretty Hibiscus Alex. Waiting on the hardy ones to start blooming, buds but no blooms yet.
Very nice Fred, love the curls and big green throat! Bet that Aztec Plaza makes a statement in the garden, big bloom of bright golden yellow.
Been a rough two days for the garden. Poured rain on Wed. and has been downright chilly yesterday and today with highs in the low 60's. A few images from this week....

Touch of Faust, the cooler temps we've had this summer really bring out the silver overlay on this cultivar, almost looks like frost...

Waterpocket Fold, a late bloomer that just ffo'd Tuesday.

Mighty Heart, big bloom of nice warm red.

Peacock Uprising, hybridized by Don Church of Maine, a hardy UF.

There's a Place, one of my favorite patterns. Beautiful color and the watermarked eye can show the clearest shades of blue..
