thanks so much, Greene! Thank You! Hurray! Love this quote: “If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.”

National Seed Swap day--how cool to think ahead to that! According to Wiki, "In the United States, the last Saturday of January is National Seed Swap Day."

What do others think of planning to have our first event as a Midatlantic forum be a seed swap in late Jan/early Feb??

Thanks, @Greene! I follow this blog and enjoy her beautiful pictures. Would you mind if I change the subject of this thread to reflect the topic of blogs that may be of interest to Mid Atlantic Gardeners?

Here's one I've been meaning to share for a while, The Deep Middle. Based in Nebraska, but has a lot of great info about butterflies and gardening for pollinators, etc.

The latest post is what I'm linking here because it has some scrumptious butterfly photos. His other sites are findable at the link too, if you're interested.

Here's another non-region-specific blog I think is worth sharing, and today's post (well I think it came through yesterday) is about a succulent nursery, and there are numerous yummy photos.

I'm reviving this very old thread to let you know about a blog you might be interested in.

See the picture at the top with the purple wall and oakleaf hydrangea? It gives you a sense of the author's gardening style. That wall was a part of his garden when he used to live in Alabama. He has recently moved to Washington State where he's starting a brand new garden, basically from scratch.

His old garden was beautiful and I'm looking forward to see how he transforms this new space in a different climate.

Take a look at his roses from his Alabama garden: http://phillipoliver.blogspot.... Lovey dubby Lovey dubby Lovey dubby Lovey dubby Lovey dubby

Please can someone explain something to me? I know the original post has my name on it and yes I follow Nan Ondra, no problem with that part.
But how could someone other than me edit my post to add a photo? That is not my photo so why is this happening?

It looks like the moderator, Catmint20906, did the editing. Perhaps they have that ability. Just a guess. Sighing!

I added that photo way back when at the beginning of the thread as an illustration of blogging. The photo that is attached to the first post of a threadthen gets picked up as the 'cover photo' for the thread itself--the little thumbnail that appears next to the thread. If you go back to the very first post of the thread, it should have that photo on it. I'm not sure why it would appear on a post later in the thread.

oh, I see what happened--Greene, you started the thread about a year and a half ago and at the time I attached the photo there so the thread would have a thumbnail. However, it's not necessary and I can remove it if you would like. You can add one of your own or just leave it without a thumbnail. Yes, as moderator I can attach photos so threads have thumbnails, but I only did that when I first started moderating--I soon decided it was not something I needed to do! So, I'm happy to remove it if you'd like, and you are free to add one of your own or just leave it blank.

The photo shows how to find blogs on the ATP site; my post included a link to a blog off-site so the image you added to my post is not entirely relevant to the context of my post. But no problem; it can stay. I just thought I was losing my mind for a minute.

And yes, when moderators are "new" they sometimes perform actions and later decide to do things differently.

thanks for your understanding, Greene--sorry about that. *Blush*
