I am selling what plumeria cuttings and rooted plants I have at greatly reduced prices, some at 50% retail. I have Celadine, Scott Pratt, Vera Cruz Rose, and Shirley's Delight. I may be making my new home in or near Virginia after I retire. Definitely want to go southward and leave city life.

That sounds like a good plan, Ivy. The further south you go, and being close to a large body of water is an advantage, the more tropical plants you can grow.

One question though...On the cuttings. They have callused over...Would it be best to do a fresh cut? Or just leave it as is?

No, no. Don't cut them. The callus is necessary to root them. They should be just right for potting up.

Elaine, are you interested in rooted or cuttings? How many tips (if you care about that). I can hold them as long as you wish. Of course, plumeria love heat........ I would remove all the leaves but the small, terminal ones, and do that minutes before boxing.

Elaine, if you think it is hot there, Friday and Saturday's forecast is a 110 F heat-index.

Yeah, we had 105 heat index here yesterday. It gets SO hot if it doesn't cloud over in the afternoons but luckily that is a pretty rare occurrence. The Gulf surface water temp is 90deg. right now too so even the sea breeze is soupy-warm.

I'd prefer rooted cuttings if you have them. Let's keep an eye out for a weather 'window' when there are some clouds returning. Maybe there will be a tropical storm to cool us off at this end . . .

OK, rooted plants is your preference. Many of my plants are simply too large now to ship rooted. I won't use any box longer than 36" and thus that's as tall as the plant can be (including leaves). Using any box bigger than this just costs too much. so I don't even pretend to advertise them larger than this. Lots of people would love a 6' tall plant, such as a fiddle leaf ficus (which my sister-in-law just purchased [locally] for $175) but when I tell them shipping would be $50, well, that's the end of the conversation.

I have a nice rooted 'Celadine' and 'Orange Blossom Special' and those will be fine to ship out the week of Sept. 7. I have a lot of plants rooting right now. If you have other varieties in mind, I may have those being rooted. Just let me know if you have others in mind.

Ken, do you have any more cuttings available, and what are your prices? I'm trying to scrape up a few dollars. I've always wanted to replace the one a former friend killed when the heater in her greenhouse failed and it froze. She didn't bother to try to compensate me, especially since she insisted that it would do better than staying in my unheated garage (which it had done before). I get upset everytime I think about it. Anyway, LMK.

I have some really great 'Celadine' plants and the cuttings will be nice and large and plump. For me at least, this variety is the easiest to root, makes a great root-stock plant, is a vigorous grower and a dependable bloomer. What more could you want. Oh, the fragrance is wonderful and in fact is the specific fragrance that all other plumeria varieties are judged against. These plants are cuttings from a 25 year old "Mother" plant and the mother plant is in bloom right now. Because this is one of my oldest plants, I have lots of cuttings available and they are priced at only $7.00 each, plus shipping. Shipping won't be bad since you are in SC. It is the least expensive variety I sell. The price you see is the ATP discount price. The regular price would be $8.95.

P. S. Plumeia will take cold generally down to 25F, so long as it is brief (no more than a couple of hours). Below that, bring the plant(s) inside. I lost 80% of my plumeria 4 years ago and they were all in an unheated garage. We had several days of temperatures that never got above freezing and I was too dumb to realize the plumeria couldn't take that kind of temperature. Now ALL mine come inside and remain dormant through the fall/winter months.
