We bought a Dawn Pink about 4 years ago. This past year, the plant grew to about 10 feet with 4 or 5 main branches...she's a good bloomer and can always count on her to carry her weight. Heres a couple of pix from 2013

But she is very bad with rust. She comes down with it first and will be the only one in a crowd with it. Debbi wanted to throw her cuttings away and dig up the root ball. Its hard to throw away large plants that bloom, so we are giving her a second chance. The cuttings are large (4-6ft). Our 6 footer finally put out 2 Inflos and the first one started to bloom yesterday! Hurray! a couple of pix!

I hate to hear that...but glad to hear were not alone...lol.
Usually it is our Slaughters (Pink) that are the first to get it and it spreads from there...but Dawn is taking over for first place in the rust department.. we'll see how she does this year as smaller plants....

She is fully open this morning and looking resplendent!

Unfortunately Rust is really bad this year for me. My Divine and Dwarf Pink Singapore has lots of rust and less blooms than last year. Grumbling

We had a warm winter and my divine and Dwarf Pink did not go dormant....or at least that`s what I think is the reason for early rust.

Would a fungicide, along with removing any of the leaves showing rust, help control or eliminate the rust?

Plumeria to trade!!!

After doing research on plumeria rust the most recommended treatment was a fungicide called Bayleton 50 DF Fungicide For Turf. It is used on golf course grasses and other large green zones. It works
systemically and has good results. However it is expensive and not readily available to the public.

I've pretty much take Hettys view now, plumeria rust is a way of life here in Florida. I do trim leaves and keep the rusty leaves picked up and out of sight.

I try not to use chemicals a lot because I have some veggies and a pineapple with fruit just underneath my potted plummies.

I used to trim the leaves with every sign of rust but got too busy with work and family I kind of neglected my plummies this year. Plus more leaves to keep track now that I have several plumerias and other plants. My 3 year old Divine has 50 tips at 2 feet tall.

Would someone please post several good close-up pictures of rust on their plumeria? Sticking tongue out Does it occur on the top, bottom, or both sides of the leaves? Is the affected leaves the only way to ID it? I don't know whether I have ever seen it on my plants or just don't know what it looks like.

I will take some pics this afternoon. You won't miss the rusts if you have them...they are hard to miss.

Thanks, Gigi. Surely I can't be so lucky over the decades of growing plumeria that I haven't had rust. All my leaves seem to be clean of anything though, other than some damaged ones I did myself, spraying a mg. solution without thoroughly following it up with clear water.

That was exactly my first thought too, Mark. 50 tips and only 2' tall. That's hard to even imagine. Sticking tongue out

Finally found this thread again. Ken, consider yourself lucky. I expect more rust because we had one week of rain, rust gets spread faster.

Here is what rusts look like.
