Thread OP

Flowers are 2" across. Petals are thick and they keep 4-5 days in water. Scent is strong spicy/fruity. Flowers are very dark red almost black before they open up.

Person I got it from said it came from a cutting a friend had brought back from Hawaii.

Thanks!

I have an inkling but generally don't like identifying from just a picture. More info about growth habit of the plant, picture of the leaves etc?

You might have Hilo Beauty there. I'd label it 'possibly Hilo Beauty' if I were you.

Your plant looks like it is not growing in an ideal environment. This could account for the smaller flowers.
I'd repot with more soil.
