I looked and didn't find a forum dedicated to composting. May we have one here? I find composting fundamental and every time I start a new garden, I set up the compost first thing.

I was sharing a little about my compost in another thread, and realized I have a lot to share about various ways to compost, and how easy it is to get a good compost going if you know some basics.

At the same time, there are always variables and issues arise that even experienced composters need to investigate with others, so having a place to share about how we go with our composting would be very valuable to me.

Beginning composters can be put off by what seems like a complicated, smelly project, which can be made much easier with a little knowledge, and, as any experienced composter will tell you, if it's smelly, something is wrong. One great thing is, nearly everything that goes wrong with a compost pile can be fixed.

This is an old picture from a previous garden, of a compost that did quite well for me there.

There is a great permaculture forum here: http://garden.org/forums/view/...
with a lot of knowledgeable people. That may be a great place to post.

I noticed the permaculture forum and it's on my list of places to visit. I'll check it out. And I'm very glad to see permaculture has a "voice" here. Green Grin!

Dave, thanks for fixing my newbie mistake too, and moving this thread to where it belongs. *Blush*

Welp, so far we're talking composting a lot in MAG --mostly me and Catmint who wants to get started soon. And I noticed a couple of topics on composting in the Cottage Garden forum too. Haven't yet managed to get too far into the Permaculture forum, but intend to make my way there.

I just thought I'd mention for anyone curious or interested that we do have a pretty active conversation going in MAG right now, so come on by if you like.

Thumbs up

I see we have a thread asking about composting. It seems that there is a lot of interesting in having a 'Composting Forum'.
There are thread and posts all over the site, it would be great to be able to just go to a composting forum instead of having to search through so many different forums and threads. It is such an important topic and seems it should be easy to find.
I would definitely be visiting a 'Composting Forum'.

There is sure a lot of information scattered around ATP that would get a Composting Forum up and running.
