The 'bluest' one. Prox 2" blooms and very upright growth. I wish I knew the cultivar name. I actually have the list of those when I purchased it way back 1998, but there are several that don't seem to match anything and at the time I didn't label them, so there are only two from that purchase that I can really put a name on with any degree of accuracy.

Wow, that is one gorgeous Achimenes, great growing! Here are the listings for Achimenes in the database, some with photos. You might be able to find a match: http://garden.org/plants/brows...

Thanks Lin, it is especially nice this year. I'd looked through the database while I had the original order in front of me, but wasn't sure and the cultivar names from my list aren't depicted. So I wasn't sure. This one actually resembles two photos, so....oh well. But I am growing some where I am sure of the cultivar names and I've thought about posting photos of the 'knowns' in the database but haven't taken the time to ask or figure out how to do that or what is needed. I'm not sure my photo abilities are up to the task. There's a lot of variation in foliage growth though the photos of the blooms might look very similar. And I might need to do a bit further research on specific cultivars before I posted any. Better to not post at all than to post one incorrectly, I think.

Donald, it's very easy to upload photos to the database. I'm not real good at explaining stuff but I'll try. Green Grin!

Find the plant in the database, for instance Cupid's Bower (Achimenes longiflora)

Scroll all the way down towards the bottom of the page to where you see a box that says:

Adding Actions:

Click on: Upload a photo

Click on the green box that says Upload an image.

Find the photo on your computer and select it. It will take just a minute to load and then you will see a thumbnail of your photo on the top right and a box on the left side of the page that asks "What type of image is this?" Click on entire plant, bloom or leaves etc. (whichever one the photo depicts) then click on the green "Finished" button.

The photo will go into a queue for the database moderators and you will get a system message once it has been approved.

Hope this helps but if you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to ask.

I'm trying to load images of my foliage with blooms (since I do mostly episcia) so that we have a few. It was pretty easy.

Well, I tried to create a database entry for Achimenes 'Yellow Beauty'. Hope it's more or less sufficient. I'm sure a real botanist would have done a better job but I did my best.

The early ones are beginning to shut down their season while the late ones have just started with some still showing buds only. Those in the middle range are still performing. Here's one. It's another unknown ID. Really showy. The blooms have day-glo intensity which I can't capture in a photo. Too bad the blooms fade. I only grow two Achimenes that don't fade and one of those is white. No where to fade with white, I guess Smiling .

And this one which I consider the first of the late blooming Achimenes. I think this one is 'Flamboyant', but I'm going to have to dig out the tag which is buried somewhere in the middle. I can't get the color right at all. This is the sort of coral or salmon orangish pinkish color you see in Impatiens. I can only seem to pick up the pinkness which isn't accurate. Very bright and almost identical to another one called 'Prima Donna' which has the first blooms this week. These will still be going when I start getting cold nights and frost.
