Not sure why I purchased this dahlia (2009), but it turned out to be a strong grower and a very attractive plant (and a favorite).




Dahlia 'All that Jazz' 2014, JAZZ, Formal Decorative, 4.5 ft Perennial (SWI,2009),Z8, BB-FD-OR Class(3003) Awards(), V2

Introduced in 2009 by Swan Island. 5” flower has a base of golden yellow blending to rose red. Each petal has a deep rose red reverse. Can change color shades in different weather conditions. No ADS listing.

Attractive orchid type dahlia. Very red. Grows well in Michigan. Have been saving tubers from this plants since 2009. I am not a big fan of orchid dahlias, but I do like this one."

I particularly like that orchid form (but look at my avatar pic, how could I not like that one?).

Not too many beetles down here in S. Ohio this summer but plenty of bees including an encouraging number of honeybees compared to recent years.

Another beauty Frank! I thought I was leaving a reply here but it was attached to the third photo instead. The point of the comment was to thank you for the "clump" shot with 'Marie Schnugg' (?) in the background.

We wouldn't bother to post if we didn't enjoy the blooms but it's very helpful to me (and others I'm sure) to be able to view foliage and other growth nearby for comparison and perspective. You've mentioned the approximate age as well. These are the great things you don't find in a catalog or book with a basic picture of the bloom and stats. Something I need to keep in mind for my future postings.

Introduced by Swan Island in 2008. Beautiful 6-8” deep velvet red petals that slightly ruffle. No awards listed by ADS as of 2014. My guess is that this dahlia is not a dahlia show favorite. However, it is a knockout in the garden."

I love "Promise." It would look smashing with Karma Chocolate.
