i've been thinking to put notes with pics on some of my projects on a blog. but here only a sequential journal entry is possible. so there is no way to group posts by say a certain plant/project/month/year?. if you want to trace posts about a certain plant - paging thru takes forever. or is it possible to search blog by date or subject or some tag that i don't know about? (besides doing ctl F on a page).

Each blog has its own search engine so yes, you can easily group posts any way you like. I recommend using tags in your blog posts for what you want grouped and then later you can simply search for those tags and it'll bring them all up.

are you talking about <keywords> tags? that'll be a lot of work...hm-m...
i can see that i can set-up a gazillions categories some private some public for searching: like '2013projects' could be a cat and then i'll need to put all 2013 projects into that cat?
is top catlist itself public?

Just add something like "#2013projects" to the body of your post and later you can search for #2013projects and it'll pull it right up. No work involved.

You know, last night my family tried to explain "hashtags" to me, and I just wasn't getting it.

Then, I Googled it and read about how it's used, and, I sort of started understanding...

Then you posted that "#2013projects" to Skylark, AND I TOTALLY GET IT!!!!!! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

I went back to my own blog, and added a few key "#", then did a control F -- found every one of my keywords, LOL!

Thanks, Skylark!!!!!! (and Dave!) I tip my hat to you.

P.S. Dave: you can put a space between words in the hashtag description, just not immediately between the # and the first word, e.g. "#2013 projects" will still find it... I tip my hat to you.

i am thinking of using multi-plant photo id's as hash tags - so that i can discuss the plants in multi-photos later perhaps and find all the posts related the them later, at once.
wouldn't it be useful to get a list of hash-tags for each blog up-front (if it's not too long...)? so you know what the blog 'themes' are, perhaps?
when the blogs mature and get long they could be difficult to navigate.
i wonder what other people found useful as hash tags in blogs, besides month-year or some plant-group name, for example, like bromeliads?
