The Chelsea Flower Show 2011 (Part 2)

By NEILMUIR1
June 7, 2011

I hope that just some of the sights of the Chelsea Flower Show in my last article has made you want to see what else was there. There was an awful lot to see and to capture. Chelsea is always full of surprises and this year was no exception. I have always thought of the Chelsea Flower Show to be wrongly named as it is not just about flowers and plants, but has everything, as you will see. So as I have my boots on, let us go and see what we can find!

Dear Nancy, glad you enjoyed it! Might not beat a roof garden in Chicago, but we do try! Rolling on the floor laughing
Have you had a Chicago Pizza yet? What are they like, i am intrigued by them!
Hope you are well and taking it easy,
Hugs.

No with both questions, Neil. No pizza and my daughter is running me ragged, as usual. She forgets that I don't go as fast anymore and I'm old enough to be her mother. LOL

Hugs,

Nancy

PS. The only pizza I had here was terrible! Thumbs down

Dear Nancy i had to ask? This is because in Winchester there is a Chicago pizza company place that one can eat in! My friend took me in there and ordered two pizzas, unfortunately I never got to try one!
As it was busy a man came and sat opposite on the same table and opened his Times newspaper which is massive, and put it over the table. When our pizzas arrived my friend asked him nicely if he could move his Newspaper as it was over our pizzas. He took no notice at all. He was asked again and still took no notice, and carried on reading and drinking his beer.
So I got my lighter out and set fire to the bottom of his Newspaper, he was not amused, but neither were we!
Nice punch up though, and we were barred from all their establishments!
That is why I was intrigued as to why people say that Chicago pizzas are the best!
Pint and a fight, and no pizza at all. Mind you it did cost them a new door!
I was mad then.
Love.
Neil.

OMG, Neil, you raucous man! That is kind of hilarious that you started that man's newspaper on fire, LOL!

Loved the article. Tony and I are rebuilding our small pond into a larger mostly waterfall/small pond. On Tony's suggestion, we are creating a Louis XIV garden in it... leaving openings in the rocks to place potted plants which can be changed out and over wintered inside. The native rock that we are using (and that we gathered multiple carloads of today... will be aching tomorrow) look very much like the rocks in the sempervivum photos... so now I want all those miriad of plants in and around our waterfall garden! I need a bigger budget...

Dear Brenda, ask Tony he will increase your budget? Rolling on the floor laughing
An old lady down the road lost a precious shrub in the wind and rain and was stunned by the prices some people wanted to cut it up for her and get rid of it!
I bumped into her and she told me she could not afford to have it done. I went round and did the whole lot within an hour with my saw. She asked me how much I wanted and over a cup of tea I told her nothing!
I was most surprised when she knocked on our door and had made us a proper old fashioned sherry trifle, that was nice of he as Sarah loves it! Then she gave me a little Gentian she had grown for my garden, how sweet is that?
If Tony does not increase your budget, tell him no more pickled eggs or onions, he will see your point!
Regards.
Neil.

If it were up to Tony, he'd let me have whatever I want. Mean old Mr. Finances has put a bit of a damper on spending... but we can still get most of what we want, so we're thankful for that. Wait till you see the waterfall he's building... not done yet, but progress in progress!

Dear Nancy, yes it may be now but wasn't at the time! Will somebody tell me what these Chicago Pizzas are and why they are supposed to be the best!
The worst pint of Guinness I ever tasted was in Ireland. The worst Pizza in Italy and the worst Paella in Spain!
So tell me about these Chicago Pizzas please!
Love.
Neil.
p.s. Chelsea Part 3 is out tonight!

There are a couple of types, Neil.

One is a very thin one that you could use for a window shade with not much on it. Then there is the thicker on with all the crap on it. That's the one I prefer. Some are made with an almost cracker-like crust which is for the birds.

To me, the best pizza is the one the X's grandmother made. Still the pizza in Rochester where I'm headed next week, is better than what I've had in Chicago. Yes, I'm on the road again. This time it's for my granddaughter's high school graduation. Should be fun.

Hugs,

Nancy

I keep wondering what the English use for soil??? I can't do that here in Phoenix! Crying
