No idea what it is, but I'm wondering if those are fully formed flowers, or buds? If there is more flower development that might make for an easier ID....

thanks, Kyla. They are buds. Yes, I keep thinking if only it would bloom, ID would be so much easier! Hopefully soon. It's right next to my Lobelia cardinalis and I assumed it was one also, but I'm not sure. All the others are in bloom, and this one totally not, plus the buds don't look as plume-like.

It is probably Symphyotrichum novi-belgii 'Henry III'. I had this last year and thought it didn't come back! Big Grin
