If so, which one? Acanthocephala declivis maybe? Or A. femorata? I guess it doesn't really matter which one it is because I read that they are a pest and suck the plant juices. If I see it again I will squash it. It freaked me out when I saw it on a Plumeria leaf and went to get my camera. I figured it was a crawling but and when I got real close it flew up to the Magnolia tree. I read that they suck plant juices

Hi Lin. It looks like it is A femorata, a "heavy leg" is the defining trait, and this one has been working out. The only thing I question is the color....all the pics seem to show a dark colored bug, and in your pic, the bug seems a pinkish beige. But then I saw second pic and think A femorata is what you have.

Thanks Jean! I haven't seen it since the day I took the photo but from what I read they aren't something I want in the garden. Thanks for the help with ID!

I tip my hat to you. You are very welcome, Lin . A lot of the Coreids are nasty bugs.

We get them in the house here. Nasty smelly critters, they try to overwinter indoors. Ugh! I hate 'em. But they are susceptible to my favorite bug killer: rubbing alcohol. Takes quite a lot to do them in, but it does keep them from releasing that disgusting odor.
Confidence is that feeling you have right before you do something really stupid.
