I got some great healthy cuttings about 3 weeks ago. They looked soft and rot-ridden but it was only dehydration. I checked the cuttings today and the cutting is firm. There were leaves when I got them and the leaves have grown! Hurray! When can I water??

When you start seeing those terminal leaves growing, I water my plants. I will still have them in mostly shade, getting several hours of early morning or very late afternoon sun. I will wait until the soil looks dry then water again. I slowly, perhaps every week, allow my newly rooted plants to get another hour or two of sunlight. Finally, after several weeks, there will be full-size leaves and the sun exposure will be close to full day. I then will water every few days, fertilize every week with 1/2 strength, 20-20-20 fertilizer, and the plants will be in full sun. This may not be what is the right way to go about it, but it seems to work for me.

They look good; I would not water just yet though.... Wait until you see a real leaf or two, unless they get dehydrated.

Yay! the waiting for the leaf to open stage...I remember that in my 2nd attempt..my ever hesitant Plumie did not get to open the leaves and just ended the season with unopened leaves.. I checked it afterwards, ..no roots..

So hold that watering..I would wait at least even for one of those leaves to open. Somehow once it manages even one, the rest follows.
Then that plumie of mine, overwintered, and after clearing off all the unopened leaves, it turns out it managed to make 3 tips. But then again, lost the stick..due to wrong timing again after overwintering indoors.
