Well, maybe there's hope! I really want some rain. Of course, neutral just means average, but I'd take an average summer at this point!

That's marginally good news! I still dread May showers. We usually lose a roof or two every May due to hail!

You have a point Sandi. We had to replace a solar panel a couple of years ago when we got that really big hail. Not good...

Big hail area? Haven't lost a roof...yet! Just dents on the vehicles. Right now we have a dent on the Grand Caravan...from a minor accident. The other driver's insurance already said they'll pay, but I don't know if they'd go for a dealer repair price tag. We've had trouble with regular body shop results in the past...cheap parts or bad paint jobs.

Linda - I've always made sure to pick the garage in advance. There are a few here I trust implicitly with my car - more so than the dealer garage who outsources their work anyway!

...and big hail isn't all that common around here. We got grapefruit sized a couple of years ago. The panels are rated for 3" hail, but not large fruit!

Insist on the dealer repair...they'll probably be there a lot longer than a regular body shop and will guarantee their work.

I guess how you feel about the drought, rain, hail and thunderstorms depends on your circumstances. I live on a cattle ranch in north Fayette County. We are currently in an Exceptional drought, the highest drought designation.

We didn't plant any cool weather forage last fall because without rain, we would have had a giant bird feeder instead of green grass. I sold 60% of my herd in February. Most ranches in this area have no grass at all. It was grazed down to nothing. I count myself lucky. I still have fiber for my cattle if need be, but only because I had every open area seeded and we had enough rain late fall in 2009 and into early 2010. Fertilized twice so the grass grew really high. Rotating the cattle to different pastures helped the grass recover in the pasture they vacated. This winter the cattle were on hay, protein supplements and liquid feed, but they went through 92 hay bales. That is why some cows and their calves had to go. It was hard to do because they were really pets. They were born and raised here

Notice I said fiber in the previous paragraph. There is a thick mat of dead grass in three of my largest pastures. It doesn't provide anything but fiber. Luckily that mat is keeping the soil cool so it doesn't dry out as quickly, but as soon as the green grass goes, I will have to continue giving them liquid feed and other protein supplements. My girls are pregnant so I need to keep them healthy.

At this stage, I'll take water in any form. In the 10 years that we have lived here, if we get hail, it is the size of a pea so we haven't suffered the damage Austin gets. I want rain, but not thunderstorms. We lost 2 pregnant cows a few years ago when they were struck by lightening. I don't like thunderstorms as much anymore.

Seems it's either too much or too little rain. I wound up in the hospital last week and the backyard looked wilted and dried when I got home. I don't think I could keep up with all the hand watering I did last year. I'm rethinking the garden this year. And I'm definitely going to hire someone to help me get all the pots back out.

Yes, hope it wasn't anything serious, Sandi! Betty, I hope things get better soon with the weather...both there and here! Our area is in the extreme drought on their map. We need rain! There's a slight chance of drizzle tonight, but we need real rain and I'll take my chances on anything that comes with it! We've already submitted a dealer estimate on the car repair, but haven't heard anything since.

I had something called Transient Global Amnesia. I knew who I was, and everyone around me, but I didn't know what had happened a few minutes before. And I kept repeating questions to DH. I knew something was wrong with me, but I wanted to ask my nurse neighbor what she thought, so I wanted to wait until I thought she was up. Apparently she and DH threw me in the car and took me to the hospital as soon as she talked to me. I knew they were going to the wrong hospital and told them, but I couldn't remember how many times I told 'em (a Lot). 'Neighbor was pretty sure I was having a stroke. She kept asking me to squeeze her hand. At the hospital, they waved us on in to the emergency room beds....no waiting. I think I was "swarmed" with doctors and nurses. After all the x-rays (in bed), IV, and a trip to the x-ray lab....the neurologist said I did not have a stroke or a TIA, I had TGA. And it would probably never happen again...ever. They kept me a couple of days for more tests...EEG and a brain scan and lots of blood work...but everything was good and healthy. The 'episode' lasted about 5 or 6 hours. I was told I'd probably never remember that morning, even tho little pieces might come back.

I've never heard of TGA, but I sure read up on it when I got home. I don't seem to have any ill effects. Just a mystery!
I now wonder about people who drive off to visit someone and wind up in a different town and have no recollection of going there. Is that what could be TGA? Who knows.

I'm very grateful to my neighbor for not wasting any time...in case it was a stroke, and the doctors and nurses couldn't have been better. I don't think I was ever scared....if I was...I don't remember!

Still trying to make some sense of it. I do know I spent a lot of time outside moving heavy pots and not drinking much water the day before...and I was stressed because it didn't look like I'd ever get the yard back to normal. I may have pushed myself too much in the heat.

Thanks Lee, at least I didn't lose my sarcastic sense of humor. I told the doctors I planned to go straight to the mall after I was released, and buy lots of "stuff." 'Then I would tell DH I didn't remember buying any of it. Unfortunately, I told 'em in front of DH. Rats!

Sandi,
I'm glad it didn't turn out to be a TIA or a stroke. Did they tell what triggered the TGA? Dehydration? I didn't know how bad dehydration could be until I wound up in the hospital because of it in October. Will you get your memory back in time?
